Articles, Press Releases, and Other Writing Samples
While working at Red Ventures, I had the opportunity to write copy to be used on our sites for a few of our brands. I also worked on coordinating content for our blog, from guides to data pieces. From blogs to articles to content copy, I helped create and edit a variety of forms and lengths of copy while adhering to each brand’s specific guidelines and their SEO strategy. I also helped develop a promotion strategy for some of our proprietary data pieces, that included pitching to journalists, press releases and networking with media contacts.

While I was with The Agency, a communication/marketing firm in Charlotte, I spent time as a copywriter. I created a variety of written content and I spent time as a team member, brainstorming in company meetings and in client meetings. I helped create a variety of written content, both print and web, for their clients (including press releases, social media posts, website copy).

As a member of a sprint team, we worked with the Good Samaritan Clinic of Jackson County to help create collateral to promote their annual Volunteer Banquet. During the semester, we created postcard invitations, email invitations and a digital program to be displayed during the event. This collateral helped promote the event throughout the community, especially among those affiliated with the clinic.

While working at Red Ventures, I had the chance to help develop the strategy for our top social media accounts. I assisted on the post ideation, image creation and caption copy for posts for a few different websites. I helped draft posts for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. I was able to help improve social media engagement for the accounts I managed by 10%. A few examples of top posts I helped developed are included below.
I interned with the Siskey YMCA (part of Charlotte YMCA system) and I helped create a social media plan to increase interaction and maintained the social media pages for both Siskey YMCA and their camp, Camp Eagle Rock. I maintained Facebook and Twitter pages for the Siskey YMCA and the camp. During the course of the summer, the YMCA’s Facebook page had 300 more likes and increased interaction.

A group of students and myself spent time working on creating, developing and executing a cycling fundraiser for the Good Samaritan Clinic of Jackson County. The event included a student-run cycling group who rode through the community and supporters donated money to the clinic in support of the ride. Our group worked to plan and execute the event as well as create promotional items for the event (including press releases, signs, flyers and social media content).
